Residents living in Derby and Erewash are being asked to provide information
about scrap collectors to support a special day of action.
On Tuesday, May 21, police in those areas will be stopping scrap collectors to make
sure they have the correct documentation and are operating legally.
If you see a scrap collector in your neighbourhood that day, please call us on 101.
Any details you can provide us with, such as vehicle descriptions and registration
numbers, will help our officers to find the collectors and carry out the checks.
Thank you for your support, we will update you with the outcome of our checks.
In Memoriam
Alice Broad aged 104
The death of Alice, just three days after her 104th birthday, saddened her family and
many friends.
Alice moved to Wilne with her family at the age oftwo, where she spent her
childhood and early days until her marriage to Bernard Broad in 1930 at St. Chad’s
Church moving then to Draycott and later to Breaston.
She worshipped throughout her long life at St. Chad’s. Sadly, her husband Bernard
died in 1984 and her son, Michael, just afterwards.
The funeral service at St. Chad’s was well attended and conducted by Gary Dundas,
who had known Alice all his life. Cremation was followed at Bramcote Crematorium.
Donations, in memory of Alice Broad, for the Friends of St. Chad’s amounted to £227.41.
The Friends Committee offer a sincere thanks to the family and to all who gave
donations.
